The Rev. Da Vita "Day" McCallister, who recently left the Connecticut Conference staff after having served for nine years as an Associate Conference Minister, will be one of two pastors to receive the Antoinette Brown Trailblazer Award during General Synod 2017.
The Antoinette Brown Award, given by the UCC during General Synod, is presented to clergywomen who have demonstrated trailblazing leadership on behalf of church and society, and is named for the first ordained woman since biblical times.The other recipient will be the Rev. Lois "Loey" Powell.
McCallister, who will begin serving as senior pastor of First Church in Somerville, MA, in July, was nominated by her Conference colleague, Associate Conference Minister Michelle Hughes.
