The Coalition Against Casino Expansion in CT is encouraging church members to come to a panel discussion on a proposed casino in Bridgeport - and to invite their legislators to come as well.
The free luncheon meeting, being held Thursday Dec. 7, from noon to 1:30 PM at the Catholic Center at 238 Jewett Ave in Bridgeport, will look at the economic and social impacts of the proposed casino. Speakers will include Former Congressman Bob Steele, Senator Tony Hwang and other community leaders.
MGM has proposed building a $675 million casino in Bridgeport, even though that would require the Legislature and governor to re-open the approval process for a new casino and likely go back on their deal with the Mohegan Tribe and Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation for a casino in East Windsoor.
The Connecticut Conference is one of the 14 organizations and denominations that make up the Coalition, or CACE.
Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to Michele Mudrick.
