"From Tolerance to Unity" is a training that seeks to unmask racism while creating a common language with which we can identify the social and institutional constructs of racism. We will spend the day engaging in this sacred work through small-group exercises, articles, videos, music, and much more. Content will include the Four Realms of Racism and the Inclusivity Spectrum. By creating a brave space where conversation and reflection are fostered, we will emerge from this training with a deeper understanding of how racism is sustained, maintained, and perpetuated. And ultimately, we will go forth with the knowledge and tools to unmask, dismantle, and eradicate racism in all its realms.
This training is an all-day (8 hour) event. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Remember to indicate any and all dietary restrictions on the registration form.
The Racial Justice Resolution adopted in 2018, requires all CT UCC clergy to complete a Racial Justice Training every 3-5 years. This training fulfills this requirement.
(For more info about this resolution and its requirements, check with your association.)
This event is not exclusive to UCC clergy. We encourage church staff, lay leaders, and people of all communities – faith based or secular – to register. Many churches provide their pastors with a continuing education or training budget while lay persons are required to pay out of pocket. For this reason, we offer lay persons a discount.
Clergy – $50
Lay Person – $25
Please know we never want the registration fee to prohibit anyone from attending a training. Financial assistance is available for anyone who wants to register but is unable due to economic obstacles. If you need financial assistance, please contact Isaac Monts Directly.
