NIANTIC – Niantic Community Church is well known for its welcoming presence in the Niantic Community and that is very evident during the annual 74th Jack Frost Bazaar when the church is transformed into a festive holiday winter wonderland. This year it takes place Saturday, November 9 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., and fills every square inch of the two-story building.
Sponsored by the Women’s Fellowship Committee, the event takes all year long to prepare for and involves the work of an estimated 100 volunteers. “I think about the Jack Frost Bazaar all year long,” said volunteer coordinator and Jewelry Boutique chair, Jeannette Woodworth. “Whatever store I go into, inspires me with possibilities for new displays for our Jewelry Boutique.”
“This year has been very exciting,” said Woodworth. “I’m downstairs at coffee hour on Sundays and many church members come to me requesting a volunteer assignment in the same departments they’ve worked in year after year. And with our church growing as it has been, we have lots of new church visitors and prospective members volunteering to help and join in the fun.”
The much anticipated traditional turkey luncheon is served from 11:00-1:00, including take-out service at a cost of $12 adults/$5 children 12 and under. Favorites like the Book Shop, Silent Auction, Precious Past, Toys, Tool Tent, Attic Treasures, Handmades and Fair Trade items are very popular areas to explore. And what winter wonderland would be complete without Mrs. Santa?! Admission is free for this community event.
