Stewardship programs can be like seeds. Even good seeds will not thrive if they are cast upon the path or among the stones or thorns. Congregations need to prepare the soil so that the seeds will be fruitful.
The main topics in the workshop include:
· Theological and spiritual foundations for fundraising.
· Understanding and changing congregational culture around financial issues.
· Dividing responsibilities between clergy and lay leaders.
· Understanding why people give and making your case.
This program has the most impact when both clergy and lay leaders from a congregation attend together. Also, while it makes sense for stewardship people to attend, sometimes it is trustees/treasurer/finance committee folks who can benefit the most.
