On Friday July 12th, 2019, a mass mobilization around the world is happening: Lights for Liberty: A family friendly, peaceful Vigil to End Human Detention Camps, will bring thousands of Americans to detention camps across the country, into the streets and into their own front yards, to protest the deplorable and inhumane conditions faced by people seeking asylum at our borders. Let us stand in solidarity with others across the world. ALL ARE WELCOME.
Please join us at First Church Glastonbury 2183 Main St. Glastonbury from 8pm to 9pm on Friday, July 12, 2019. Free parking in back of the church. We will hold vigil on the front lawn of church, unless the weather does not cooperate, then we will go inside the church.
We will gather for one hour, hear speakers and hold a family friendly, peaceful vigil. At 9pm we will turn on candles, flashlights and glow sticks to create a sea of candles to light up the world.
Please join us and arrive 15 minutes early if possible.
We are adding speakers and will have them confirmed soon.
We will stand in silence with our lights/candles with others around the world.
BYOC: Bring your own candle ( preferably battery-operated), flashlights or glow sticks.
This is a family friendly event so bring your children, young adults, toddlers and babies in strollers most welcome.
