3 Great Loves, a two-year mission*….

Women Caring for God’s Creation

The Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it  ~ Psalm 24

Morning Program:  There will be (3) 30 minute workshops before lunch,so all have a chance to attend each session. Workshops are open to clergy and lay women.

1. Interracial Eco Justice: Ways to Promote Understanding
Led by Sharon Lewis, Executive Director for the CT Coalition for Interracial Eco Justice. Sharon will speak on how communities of color are disproportionately impacted by pollution, toxic chemicals, and climate change – and what that means.
2. Keeping the Earth Green: Things to Know About Recycling
Led by Jennifer A. Heaton-JonesExecutive Director, Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority
3. Creative Worship: visual aspects of worship; accent the church season with altarscapes/other displays; special rituals to incorporate for Lent or Advent; relevant scripture for Year C and brainstorming.
Led by the Rev. Sue Latourette, pastor of the Congregational Church of North Stonington and an associate member of the Iona Community.  She enjoys exploring different and more poetic ways of expressing faith through ritual, prayer, and music.

Offering:  The offering for the next two years will be a dual mission:  We are collaborating with Church World Service to raise $5,000 for a Haitian House. The second mission is to raise $5,000 for campership scholarships to Silver Lake Conference Center. Help children who may not otherwise be able to experience a week of fun, learning and new friendships at summer camp.

Lunch:  soups, salad, dessert and beverages provided by the women of the Huntington Congregational Church:  veggie and gluten free options will be available.

Afternoon Program:  Brief business meeting; Recognized Women Awards,* Amy Ogden Welcher Scholarship Award; closing worship and communion.

*“The United Church of Christ's "3 Great Loves" campaign was introduced at General Synod 31 in July 2017. This initiative is the denomination's opportunity to express how our Love of Neighbor, Love of Children, and Love of Creation work together to address inequities in our current world.”
