There will be (3) 30 minute workshops before lunch,so all have a chance to attend each session. Workshops are open to clergy and lay women.
||1. Interracial Eco Justice: Ways to Promote Understanding
Led by Sharon Lewis, Executive Director for the CT Coalition for Interracial Eco Justice. Sharon will speak on how communities of color are disproportionately impacted by pollution, toxic chemicals, and climate change – and what that means.
||2. Keeping the Earth Green: Things to Know About Recycling
Led by Jennifer A. Heaton-Jones, Executive Director, Housatonic Resources Recovery Authority
||3. Creative Worship: visual aspects of worship; accent the church season with altarscapes/other displays; special rituals to incorporate for Lent or Advent; relevant scripture for Year C and brainstorming.
Led by the Rev. Sue Latourette, pastor of the Congregational Church of North Stonington and an associate member of the Iona Community. She enjoys exploring different and more poetic ways of expressing faith through ritual, prayer, and music.
The offering for the next two years will be a dual mission: We are collaborating with Church World Service to raise $5,000 for a Haitian House
. The second mission is to raise $5,000 for campership scholarships to Silver Lake Conference Center
. Help children who may not otherwise be able to experience a week of fun, learning and new friendships at summer camp.
soups, salad, dessert and beverages provided by the women of the Huntington Congregational Church: veggie and gluten free options will be available.
Brief business meeting; Recognized Women Awards,* Amy Ogden Welcher Scholarship Award; closing worship and communion.
*Deadline for Recognized Women Award nominations:
March 28th is the deadline for submission of nominations from each church (no more than 2 per church, please). To nominate a woman for this award, please send in a short essay on why your candidate should be recognized (no more than 150 words). How has she made a difference in her community, her church, and her family. Does she go above and beyond? Please do not submit names of women who have received this award in the past five years. Include the following information about your candidate: name, full address, telephone number, email (if applicable) and the church (and town of church). Also include the name and phone number of the person submitting the nomination in case there are any questions.
