The RHAM High School Activism Club is hosting an Activism Bootcamp. The club was created by students as a means to be empowered, have a “voice” and hopefully, create change in our world today. They would like to share an opportunity with you to gain the skills to be an effective advocate for ANY cause
that you are passionate about.
On March 9th from 1-3 pm
, the “Activism Bootcamp
” will be held at the Gilead Church Social Hall. ALL AGES
are welcome! You could come by yourself or bring a child or friend! Light refreshments will be served. You will meet a multitude of student activists, a former local councilwoman, and interns within our state's capital, leading a discussion and giving useful insight to the process of sharing and being active in your cause(s). Please see flyer attached.
In addition, there will be training in productive testifying for house and senate bills, lobbying, and contact with your legislators (including insight into exactly where your letters, calls, etc. go and how they are handled and used), as well as effective demonstrating, social media campaigning, and perhaps most importantly - respectful, and impactful discourse.
This "Activist Bootcamp
" is led by extremely passionate students who are behind the scenes and in this work every day. It will be a powerful experience and they would love to have you, no matter what your cause, background, or experience is.
We are reminded of the words, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
by Margaret Mead. How true!
