Seeking a Minister/Leader of Pastoral Care
Purpose: Provide pastoral care to hospitalized and home-bound members of The United Church of Christ, Southbury.
Hours: 10 hours per week, on average. The number of members needing pastoral care will vary weekly.
Compensation: $650 per month plus mileage compensation.
Reports to: Interim Senior Pastor and the Pastoral Management Committee.
Note that we are looking for a "bridge" person to assist our Interim Senior Pastor. This position will evolve through our interim process, and you could be a part of that evolution.
Experience in ministering to hospitalized and home-bound people as well as recruiting and training / coaching others to help with visitation is desirable.
Pastoral care to hospitalized and home-bound members, and counseling referrals as necessary.
Keep the Senior Pastor informed of your visits and calls.
Let the Senior Pastor know if a member requests to hear from the Senior Pastor.
As time and circumstances allow, act as a back-up to the Senior Pastor if any church member has a pressing pastoral counseling need while the Senior Pastor is not readily available (i.e. on vacation, etc.). Update the Senior Pastor upon their return.
Occasionally, upon request or when desired, attend a monthly Pastoral Management Committee meeting. The intent is to minimize administration, while offering a forum to discuss pastoral “employee” topics. Occasionally attend, upon request of the Senior Pastor, a weekly staff meeting.
Recruit and train/coach members of the church to help with visitation.
If called upon to lead worship and preach as a Supply Minister, compensation will be in addition to the salary of this position on a per Sunday basis.
