I started my ministry as the Racial Justice Team Leader with the soon-to-be Southern New England Conference just six weeks ago. I’ve filled those six weeks with meetings with racial justice facilitators, clergy, church committees, and community organizations working to address racism in the educational system.
I’ve spent a lot of time asking questions to learn more about who we are as a new conference and how we might envision a way forward doing the work of racial justice. What I’ve heard, so far, is a mix of pain and promise. I’ve heard about the pain that comes along with being on the receiving end of racism, whether intentional or unintentional, and how that pain impacts our ministries. And, I’ve heard about the commitment that many have made to doing the difficult necessary work to unmask, dismantle, and eradicate racism within the conference and outside of it.
I’m excited about the possibilities that the Holy Spirit provides to deepen our commitment to God and God’s people. I invite you to consider what you might have to offer and be in touch with me. I look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached at email@example.com.
