#GivingTuesday Gifts Exceed $4K

12/7/2016

The Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island Conferences of the United Church of Christ participated in the national #GivingTuesday generosity movement on November 29 and raised more than $4500. These gifts will be used to support the Racial Justice Ministries of the three conferences.

#GivingTuesday was a global effort to use the power of our digitally connected world to raise awareness and money for charities that make an impact in our communities. Scheduled to follow Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the effort was meant to kick off a season of generosity.

"We are so grateful for the donations," said Connecticut Conference Minister the Rev. Kent Siladi, who decided to extend the online giving deadline to Friday,  December 2 when donors continued to ask if they could contribute to the campaign.

"It was good to see so many people choose to support Racial Justice Ministry on November 29," said Drew Page, News & Media Editor for the Connecticut Conference. "With so many charitable organizations all over the world soliciting funds on #GivingTuesday, the regular notifications of donations we saw online made it clear that racial inequality is an issue that touches the lives of many in our community, and there are people out there willing to support the fight to eradicate racism."
