Office Coordinator, First Church of Christ, Congregational (Middletown)

First Church of Christ, UCC in Middletown, is seeking a part time office coordinator to provide administrative support to the Minister and Executive Committee, such as greeting visitors, answering and directing phone calls and emails, preparing the weekly bulletin and various church communications, ordering office supplies, managing the church calendar, etc. In addition to these administrative tasks, the Office Coordinator is the “rental agent” for the various venues within the church available for community use. This entails responding to the needs of current renters, meeting with potential renters, preparing rental agreements, etc. The ideal candidate will possess good computer skills in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience in a church office or similar setting is preferred. Experience in rental sales a plus. This is a 25-30 hour per week position, M-F. Schedule may be flexed.

Director of Children and Family MInistries, Asylum Hill Congregational Church (Hartford)

This 25 hours/week position reports to an Associate Minister and is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the AHCC children’s Christian Education program (known as Spirit Hill) and activities. The program covers services for children from infant age through grade 6. The position works closely with the Chair of the Children and Family Ministries Committee and participates actively in committee activities. The work schedule is flexible, including Sundays (September-June) when Spirit Hill is in session. It includes rotating Sundays in the summer.

The position manages the Assistant Director of Children and Family Ministries, the Director of Childcare, 10 childcare workers and a volunteer Curriculum Consultant. This position is responsible for hiring, training and evaluating performance of the staff of the Children and Family Ministries and childcare programs.. Creates a year-round Christian Education plan and develops, in collaboration with the Assistant Director and the Curriculum Consultant, a curriculum to support that plan. Plans and implements programs, activities and events in addition to the Sunday morning classes, including Wednesday evening activities for school-aged children. This position provides a minimum base salary of $28,600 and offers participation in a benefits package including Medical, Dental, Life and Disability insurance, Flexible Spending Account, an Annuity plan and (paid) vacation. The Minister of Communications (not requiring an ordained person) is responsible for shaping, developing, and coordinating communications within and outside the congregation. He/she will design and implement a plan for presenting comprehensive and consistent communications across multiple platforms, including worship bulletins, newsletters, calendars, website, social media, email, and external print and electronic media. These communications will serve to convey a public face for RHCC, affirming and advancing a clear and consistent vision of who we are, what we believe, and what we do. This position is anticipated to be approximately one-third of a full-time equivalent position. Much of the individual work may be done at home or away from the church premises. Some scheduled "office hours" will be kept, encouraging regular interaction with church staff and members. Scheduling of work time will be flexible, and may be uneven from week to week. Compensation will be on a salaried basis. Actual hours worked will not be a factor in compensation.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for supporting the ministry and mission of the congregation by accomplishing tasks associated with day-to-day church operations and workflow. Duties include, but are not limited to, typing/word processing, reception, record-keeping, mailing, operating office equipment, coordinating building use, and maintaining calendar. She/he will be a source of welcome and hospitality to all who interact with the church. This is non-exempt, part-time, hourly position. The position is normally scheduled for 20 hours/week (all year). Regular office hours will be established by the Senior Pastor.
