Directions To South Congregational Church
Middletown

From Hartford:

  • Follow I-91 south to Exit 22S - Route 9 south (left exit)
  • Follow Route 9 south to Exit 14 - DeKoven Drive (Harbor Area).
  • Stay straight to go onto Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way for 0.1 miles
  • Turn left onto Main Street and follow for 0.1 miles
  • Turn RIGHT onto PLEASANT ST. <0.1 miles

From New Haven:

  • Follow I-91 north to Exit 18 - Route 66.
  • Remain on Route 66 (becomes Washington St.) for about 6.8 miles to its junction with Main Street, Middletown.
  • Turn right onto Main Street and continue south; you will see the South Church steeple.

From Fairfield County:

  • Take I-95 North to exit 48 (left exit) onto I-91 North toward Hartford.
  • Follow I-91 north to Exit 18 - Route 66.
  • Remain on Route 66 (becomes Washington St.) for about 6.8 miles to its junction with Main Street, Middletown.
  • Turn right onto Main Street and continue south .4 miles; you will see the South Church steeple.

From Waterbury:

  • Follow I-84 E to Exit 27 - I-691 East.
  • After 8.9 miles, I-691 becomes Route 66.
  • Remain on Route 66 (becomes Washington St.) for about 6.4 miles to its junction with Main Street, Middletown.
  • Turn right onto Main Street and continue south .4 miles; you will see the South Church steeple.

From New London:

  • Follow I-95 S 32.9 miles to Exit 69 – CT-9 North.
  • Follow CT-9 N 22.0 miles and take Exit 12, Bow Lane, toward the Harbor Area.
  • Turn left onto Bow Lane and follow for 0.1 mile.
  • Take a slight right onto Saybrook Road; follow for 0.2 miles.
  • Saybrook Road becomes East Main Street; go less than 0.1 miles
  • Stay straight to go onto Main Street Extension for .6 miles.
  • Main Street Extension becomes Crescent Street; go less than 0.1 miles.
  • Turn left onto Pleasant Street.

Parking

South Church does not have a parking area. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

Parking is available as follows:

  • Old Church Street (dead end street) is across the Green from South Congregational Church and offers free curbside parking.
  • Metered spaces are available along Main Street (4 quarters for 2 hours).
  • Parking lot behind the Masonic Temple (3rd building to the right of South Congregational Church as you face the front of the church).
  • Middlesex Assurance parking garage, two blocks north of South Congregational Church; enter from College Street. Parking lot is free.
  • Parking is also available around the Green.
