FAQ Answer Sheet
Please read these instructions carefully.
- Online registration is our preferred method of registration, and we request advance registration, if possible. Please go to www.ctucc.org and click on Annual Meeting Online Registration; instructions will be there and you may pay with your credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or an electronic check—it’s easy!
- A confirmation email will be sent to you after you register online, if you provide a correct email address.
- Get an “early bird” discount if you register before April 15th.
- No credit card charges will be accepted if you register by mail, so if you need to mail your registration form in, it must be accompanied by a check.
- For registration questions, contact Jan Bittner (see Contact Information at the bottom of the next page).
- You may register on arrival but a reserved lunch will not be available then. The walk-in cost will still be the same.
- At the Lake, the registration tables will be in a small tent near the Social Hall.
- We strongly encourage you to arrive on time. So much is going on during the day that you will want to take advantage of as many activities as you can.
- You may eat your lunch in various places throughout Silver Lake. There will be seating in the big tent, in the Social Hall, and—weather permitting—at lots of picnic tables. Lunchtime is a great time to gather in small groups for informal conversations.
- Lunch will come in a reusable bag to encourage sustainability. The garden salad will have items you may add; the ham and gouda wrap is Virginia ham which has a honey/mustard dressing; the turkey and provolone wrap has smoked turkey.
- The registration fee includes lunch if you pre-register; the fee for youth age 18 or under also includes lunch if you pre-register.
- A snack bar will be available for cash purchases of breakfast items, snacks, beverages, fruit, chips, and dessert, as well as items for those who did not order lunch in advance. Since there are few off-site options for lunch nearby, we encourage you to pre-register.
- The snack bar will be located at the Camp Store, near the Social Hall and big tent, and the Camp Store will be open all day, supplied with many of the usual summer items!
- Parking will be available at Silver Lake for those with special needs and for those who carpool with at least three persons in the car. Arrange to travel with others from your church or town!
- Since on-site parking is so limited, people with mobility issues are requested to notify us before May 4 by contacting Barbara Mansfield (see Contact Information, next page).
- Off-site parking will be available at the First Church of Christ Congregational in Sharon and another site that hasn’t been determined yet. There will be shuttle service between both off-site locations and Silver Lake. This information will also be updated on our website.
- Saturday morning events are scheduled for the big tent but workshops will be at various buildings on the Silver Lake campus.
- Several golf carts will be available at Silver Lake to “taxi” people who need assistance getting from one place to another in the afternoon at the Lake.
- Lodging at Silver Lake will be available on Friday night, May 11, at Silver Lake. Accommodations are bunk style and spaces are limited so please sign up soon. You will need to choose a lower bunk or upper bunk; send any questions or comments on lodging to Jan Bittner (see Contact Information, below). Be sure to include your email address in case we need to follow up with you. A continental breakfast will be included in the bargain price of $35 per night. On-site parking will be available for those who stay overnight at the Lake. People staying overnight at the Lake will have the opportunity to sign in for Saturday and get their packets between 5:00 and 6:00 on Friday night at the Cedars and avoid the Saturday morning registration lines.
- For those staying at Silver Lake on Friday night, chef Bob Slagel will offer supper at 6:30 p.m. for $12 per person. (Bob is also preparing our lunch and the snack bar food.)
- On Friday night, one of last summer’s youth conferences, Khenuta, led by Whendi Cook, will offer a program and a campfire to give you the “real” Silver Lake experience.
- A Bed and Breakfast in a Private Home is available. If you would like to be matched with a local family for Friday night lodging and Saturday breakfast, call Barbara Mansfield (Contact Information below) and she will send you a request form.
- Lodging elsewhere in the area is also available and you are welcome to make your own arrangements. A flyer with suggestions is included in this mailing.
- Child Care will be available at Silver Lake. Please note that, as much as Silver Lake is a “kids’ place,” the Annual Meeting is not a family event; it is designed for registered adults and youth. It is necessary to reserve space for your child/children if you plan to utilize this service. A coordinator will be available soon, so check our website (www.ctucc.org) or call Barbara Mansfield (Contact Information below) and she will send you a request form to reserve a space. Parents are to provide lunch for their child/children.
- Please check our website (www.ctucc.org) for information about special seating, sign language interpretation, dietary requirements, or other modifications, and call Barbara Mansfield (see Contact Information below) to be sure we know how to accommodate you.
- Enclosed is a preliminary list of workshops and forums being offered. As changes to this list occur, they will be posted on our website, and an updated list will be available at registration on May 12.
- There is no advance sign-up for the workshops. When you register at the Lake, you will select a ticket for any workshop you wish to attend. Please review the list before you come.
- Some workshops will take advantage of the great outdoors at Silver Lake, so wear appropriate clothing for outdoor activities.
- Space is very limited for displays and there is only room for Conference-related displays at this meeting.
- There will be very limited business on the agenda. Elections will be held for the officers, Board members, and Nominating Committee at this meeting. We will also take time for updates:
- Anticipating General Synod June 22-26, 2007, at the Civic Center in Hartford
- Promotion for the Annual Meeting Part II, October 19-20, 2007, at Tolland High School
- Financial update for our shared mission
