[This document in PDF format]

The 134rd Annual Meeting of the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ (Congregational Christian Churches), meeting in the 204rd year of the Missionary Society of Connecticut, gathered its members and guests from the near and the farther corners of our Conference at Killingly High School in Danielson, Connecticut, on a delightful weekend, October 19-21, 2001. The life changing events of September 11, 2001 have renewed our sense of the importance of our Christian mission and ministry to the world. Our original theme “Simple Gifts, Differing Gifts” sounds so innocent in the face of the terror we have experienced in the past five weeks and the potential for war that the world now faces.

Whereas

we are gathered here in the Quiet Corner, we give special thanks to the Windham Association that has hosted us, the host churches and pastors, and most especially The Rev. Jim Ziobro and the members of the Westfield Congregational Church of Danielson. We all gratefully accept the hospitality of the church members who have volunteered to make our time in their midst efficient and enjoyable.

Therefore be it resolved,

that we offer deep appreciation for the Authorized Ministry Lunch & Event – “Immigrants, Exiles & Refugees, Ministering to Former Catholics in UCC Congregations”, with The Rev. Dr. Mary Luti, Senior Pastor of the First Congregational Church, Cambridge, MA. We thank as well The Imperial Room for the delicious luncheon.

Lindsay Fulmer, Nancy Hoverka, and Elizabeth McCosh-Lillie, the superb musical contributions of Lou Harper, Fran Baron, David March, Frank May, Stephanie Cyr also blessed us. The many voices of the Festival Choir, the choir from the Putnam Congregational Church, and the choir from First Congregational Church, Woodstock under the direction of Ted Bradley will make a most joyful noise to the Lord and all here assembled!

Be it further resolved,

that we accept the kindness of Jane Chittick for her persistence in sheperding participants to the podium throughout these three days.
