What is Speak Out Time?
Speak Out time is set-aside for individual members of our meeting to share a vision, a concern, or some other point of view, in a more informal fashion than bringing it before the meting during business sessions.
How long is Speak Out time?
Speakers may speak for up to two minutes. The Scribe times Speak Outs.
What can be done during Speak Out time?
Speakers may sing, dance, speak, or occasional have used the time to present skits.
What may not take place during Speak Out time?
Because the meeting is not officially "in session" no minutes are kept during Speak Outs. For the same reason, neither motions nor votes may be taken during Speak Out time.
Who may speak during Speak Out time?
Delegates, honorary delegates, clergy, and visitors who are members of Connecticut Conference United Church of Christ churches are eligible to speak.
How do I sign up for a Speak Out?
If you wish to speak out on Saturday afternoon, you must sign up with the Scribe immediately following the close of business on Saturday at lunchtime.
If you wish to speak out on Saturday evening, you must sign up with the Scribe immediately following the close of the Saturday afternoon session.
If you wish to speak out on Sunday morning, you must sing up with the Scribe immediately before the beginning of the Sunday morning session.
Where does the Scribe sit?
The Scribe, Debra Wilson, sits at the front of the room, at or near the same table as the Conference Minister.
