WOODBRIDGE (12/01/2007) -- Rev. Dr. Michael S. Penn-Strah has been called to serve as South Central Regional Minister for a three-year period. He began his ministry there on August 1. He succeeds the Rev. Kent J. Siladi, who started as Florida Conference Minister on July 16th.
Rev. Penn-Strah served as Associate Conference Minister to the Massachusetts Conference since 2002, caring for the 56 churches of its northeast area. A local pastor for most of his 40 years of ordained ministry, he inspired and developed the Timothy Project in Massachusetts, which works with ten churches a year to help them strengthen their worship, discipleship, faith formation, stewardship, mission and relationship to the wider church.
He came highly recommended by his colleagues and, indeed, by Connecticut colleagues who had worked with him. Conference Minister Rev. Dr. Davida Foy Crabtree expressed “ great confidence in his competence, energy and creativity… His references speak of him as a powerful presence in worship and preaching, a great guide for churches and pastors in times of change, a thoughtful and caring pastor, an effective diplomat.”
He is married to the Rev. Dr. Sara Penn-Strah, Pastor of the First Church of Christ, UCC, in Woodbridge. They have four children and three grandchildren.
