HARTFORD (10/29/2007) -- The Connecticut Conference will celebrate a true jubilee of a year, which included celebrations of the United Church of Christ's golden anniversary and that of Silver Lake Conference Center, with a special gathering for worship, music, and congratulations at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church UCC in Hartford on Sunday, November 4, from 3:00 - 5:30 pm.
The keynote speaker for the day is the Rev. Robert Chase, who recently left after serving as the UCC's Director of Communications for eight years. Bob provided the driving creative force for Synod in the City, which brought 10,000 people to downtown Hartford in June for over one hundred featured speakers and workshops. Bob also led the team behind the artistic and visual experience of General Synod 26, which combined colored light, projected images, laser beams, candles, draped fabrics, and a moving water fountain to make a dramatic and effective sacred space.
In addition to Rev. Chase, the gathering features:
Beginning at 2:15, those who attended or volunteered at Synod are invited to preserve their memories on video, which the Conference will preserve for those who come after us.
The UCC will officially close its anniversary celebration year with a live webcast on the evening of November 4th, at 7:00 pm Eastern Time. To be hosted by UCC General Minister and President the Rev. John H. Thomas, the webcast promises to announce a "new way to access the amazing spirit we experienced at General Synod." Click here for more information or to see the webcast on November 4.
