HARTFORD (05/07/2007) -- In celebration of the United Church of Christ's 50th Anniversary and the denomination's first General Synod to be held in Connecticut, the Conference has a launched a new web site that illustrates the state's UCC heritage: www.ctuccheritage.org.
The site, developed by the Heritage and History Committee, features interactive maps for significant historic sites within Connecticut, including churches, museums, and the homes and birthplaces of notable people. A collection of classic postcard images of Connecticut UCC churches shows how many meetinghouses looked in former years. Conference Archivist the Rev. Dr. Evans Sealand and Niantic Community Church Historian Liz Kuchta have contributed essay accounts of Connecticut's UCC heritage, and visitors from beyond the state will find another interactive map showing congregations across the country "seeded" by the efforts of the Missionary Society of Connecticut and local churches.
