HARTFORD (04/02/2007) -- Will Cayer, long time Silver Laker and currently a student at UConn, has joined the Connecticut Conference staff to work part-time until May 6, and then full time on General Synod related matters.
“Will is great to work with and full of energy,” enthused Rev. Davida Foy Crabtree, Conference Minister. “If you were at Silver Lake last summer, you will remember Will as the one who built the sheep corral and encouraged all the kids to visit the sheep.”
Initially, his work will focus on getting the youth of the Conference out for Synod and recruiting youth advisors. He will continue that work and also add on other responsibilities that arise as Synod gets closer.
Will attended General Synod XXIII in Kansas City in 2001 and was also at the National Youth Event in Tennessee in 2004, experiences he credits with helping to shape and strengthen his commitment to the work of the United Church of Christ. He has worked at Silver Lake Conference Center for the past two summers, where he sharpened his teamwork skills as a Nature Specialist and Challenge Course (ropes) facilitator. Will has also been an off-season volunteer at many weekend retreats.
His parents are Dave and Cindy Cayer and they are all members at Plantsville Congregational Church. Cindy, a development officer at Central Connecticut State University, was on the SLCC board for several years and now serves on the Major Gifts Committee of Now, For the Future: The Campaign for Silver Lake.
Welcome aboard, Will! We’re glad you’re here.
