HARTFORD (02/09/2007) -- A special pre-Synod meeting on the Environment will be held at the Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford on June 21st. It will be sponsored by the Justice Witness Ministries and the national United Church of Christ Task Force on the Environment and Energy. The day's activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.
Jerome Ringo, the Chairman of the Board of the National Wildlife Federation has accepted an invitation to be a speaker at the conference. His voice will be supplemented by other national leaders.
There will be morning and afternoon workshops on some of the crucial environmental concerns facing the planet. Participants will hear what is most likely to happen in climate change and about the use of alternative energy sources, as well as the UCC's critical role in eco-justice concerns such as toxic waste disposal.
More information on this special day will be forthcoming in the intervening months, including a more detailed agenda, the small cost to attend, and directions to Immanuel Congregational Church. Planners urge each of Connecticut's churches to send at least one representative to this important conference.
